"Rio" Tops "Madea" & "Elephants" for Box Office Glory
With the animation domination continuing its grip at the box office, "Rio" held onto the top spot during the Easter holiday weekend (April 22-24).
The Anne Hathaway starring bird caper raked in an estimated $26.5 million during its second week of release to bring its grand total to an impressive $80.9 million.
Coming in at a close second place was the always-popular Tyler Perry's "Madea's Big Happy Family," which earned approximately $26 million on opening weekend.
